When jumping into a new game it can be a bit daunting for some people. You’ll have to learn new mechanics, how the game works, what are the best tactics and so on. This is especially true if you’re playing a game genre that you’re not used to, but it’s fun to learn new things and understand them.
If you’re looking to play Everspace 2 you might find yourself lost. It’s a big game, and it can be unforgiving at times. In this guide we’ll show you some useful tips and tricks when playing the game so that it can hopefully guide you to a better experience!
Early Game Tips & Tricks | Beginner’s Guide For Everspace 2
Everspace 2 is not quite like the first game so even fans of the previous game can get lost in this one. That’s why we’re here to show you some tips on how to go through the starting area of the game. Now let’s get started and see what you can do.
Main Quest Line
Doing the main quest line might sound bad for those who like to do the side quests first and I understand that. I too have played Skyrim and have only seen the main quest finished once, before I modded it to oblivion. Still, you should at least do some of the main quest line so that the game opens up to you.
The main thing you’ll want to get from the Main Quests is the ability to craft. Equipping yourself a Cargo Unit as early as possible will help you in the long run. In our guide on crafting in the game we go more in-depth on how that system works. A Cargo Unit will help you disassemble useless weapons and modules to materials you can use to craft better stuff!
You’ll also want to progress until you reach Nepthys Plains. In the station there is the only Ship Dealer in Ceto. That’s where you can buy new ships early on in the game so you can try out the different classes of ship.
Resources and Cash Flow
You’ll need cash to go get those cool ship parts and later on better ships. The best way to do that is to do jobs and missions from whatever you can find. The best way to get these is through stations and traders and they sometimes even give you gear as a reward.
Don’t forget to also do optional quests and puzzles around the areas you’re in. This will teach you how the puzzle mechanics work in the game and they often have some great rewards. Also check out unknown signals, just remember to not go to purple ones later on because they’ll rip you to shreds early on!
Doing missions will also increase your Renown and you should always try to aim for that. The first two levels of renown are easy to get and will even give you a Tuned Energizer SP. That’s a level 2 Energy Core which is great at the early stages.
Also remember to mine all the resources! Unlike other space games where you need some special mining equipment like mining lasers, this game doesn’t! That means you can just shoot resource nodes and get that sweet loot. This will help you later on when you do crafting and upgrading.
Pick Your Fights
When going through optional regions, unknown signals or enemy bases you should always check what level the enemy is. At the top right of your screen is your own level, and when you see an enemy, you’ll also see their level. This is a great way to gauge on how the fight will be, with higher or even same level enemies being a challenge.
Don’t be afraid to disengage, run away and do some optional missions and activities. Get better gear and ships and then go back to kick their ass! I often engage enemies a level lower than me and only engage same level enemies if there’s only a few.
Congratulations you now know some great tips on Playing Everspace 2. Hopefully this will help you out to enjoy the game more!
