Gray Zone Warfare, just like the other extraction shooters that came before it, can be very complicated as almost nothing is taught to you. It’s sink or swim right off the bat, and some quests will have you looking for keys to get through locked doors. Here is a quick guide on how you can do that!
Gray Zone Warfare: How to Get Keys Guide
Every now and then, a task from any of the vendors will require you to enter a locked room, which will require the corresponding key. For example, if you have to enter through a locked door labeled “Room A”, then you will need to find a “Room A Key”.
The solution is actually pretty simple, but will require a bit of RNG. Basically, you have to kill nearby AI enemies until one of them drops the required key. That’s easier said than done, though.
Depending on how populated your current server is, the areas you need to explore may have been cleared by other players by the time you get there. This will drastically reduce your chances of finding a key and force you to wait for respawns.
In rare occasions, a crowded server can work in your favor. If somebody else has recently opened the door that you need to go through, it’ll stay unlocked and you can just walk right in, at least until the server resets.
It really is a matter of luck for the most part, so if you are hilariously unfortunate, you can potentially spend hours trying to finish an early task such as Handshake’s Helping Hand quest.
One thing to note is that you can keep keys after using them, though there isn’t much of a reason to do so unless you want to help other players or have a group of friends who still need to do certain tasks.
That is pretty much everything you need to know about keys in this game, which is still in early access and is subject to changes as time goes on. Don’t forget to check out our complete beginner’s guide for Gray Zone Warfare as well if you are still a fresh new player!
