At its essence, Nightingale is a survival game focused on Arcane Portals as you explore the Fae wilds. Even if you aren’t that big a fan of the survival genre, Nightingale’s interesting and fresh take makes it a must-play for any curious gamer. Now that the Early Access is out, you’ll want to learn all about the basics: such as how to travel to Desert Herbarium Realm.
Fortunately, we’re here to help you with a step-by-step process to get you started!
How To Travel To Desert Herbarium Realm
Okay, the thing about dealing with the Desert Herbarium Realm is you first need to learn about Realm Cards. These cards are what you’ll be using on Realm Portals to craft the world you wish to enter. Let’s get started by learning the tools you’ll need to get the job done!
Keep in mind that to craft these materials, you’ll need Essence Dust to unlock recipes from the Essence Trader. If you’re curious, you can Get Essence Fast with this guide!
Crafting the Desert Realm Card
Once you have the Essence Dust, let’s start talking about materials on crafting the Desert Realm Card. First and foremost, you’ll need:
- Simple Saw Table – You’ll need Wood Bundles x8 (you can chop down trees to get them), Stone Blocks x4 (you can mine them with a pickaxe), and Animal Fibres x4 (you can gather them from various animals in the realms).
- Simple Mortar Station – To craft this handy tool you’ll need Lumber x3 (gather Wood Bundles, then turn the Wood Bundles into Lumber with the help of a Simple Saw table), and Fibre x8 (while you can gather these from animals, it’s often easier to gather Fibre from plants).
- Simple Smelter – The Smelter is relatively easy to craft, requiring Stone Blocks x6 (which you can get from mining rocks), and Rocks x6 (which you get by collecting rocks around the realms).
- Simple Enchanter’s Focus – The Simple Enchanter’s Focus is what you’ll need to craft your chosen Realm Card (in this case, it’s the Desert Realm Card). You’ll need Lumber x1 (Wood Bundles into Lumber through the Simple Saw Table), Ingots x2 (using the Smelter, craft the Ingots utilizing Ore, which you can get for mining mineral deposits), and Glass x5 (mined in the wild through Crystal Formations).
- Simple Spinning Wheel – For this you’ll need Wood Bundles x3, Fibres x15 (gathering them through plants and animals) and Bone x1 (through animals).
- Brazier – While this might be one of the intermediate workbenches in the game, it’s still relatively simple to craft. You’ll need Ingots x6, and Shafts x3 (you can make them using the Smelter for Ingots x2).
Now, I know that was a lot to take in, but it’s necessary if you want to make the Desert Realm Card. Here’s what you’ll need to get the job done:
- Paper x1 – Fortunately, crafting Paper is easy. With your Simple Saw Table, craft Paper using Wood Bundles x2.
- Ink x1 – To craft Ink, you’ll need Refined Pigment (Pigment Items can come from various sources, including Meat and Plants). The Simple Mortar Station is what you’ll use.
- Essence Dust x25 – Essence Dust is gathered from all sorts of items and materials within the game. You can also gather Essence Dust from achieving milestones within the game.
And there you have it — your very own Desert Card! You’ll be able to use this ASAP, but hey, we’re talking about a Desert Herbarium Realm here. That means you still have to work on the Herbarium Realm Card!
Finding the Herbarium Realm Card Recipe
Now, there’s no need to worry about getting yourself an Herbarium Realm Card, because I’m here to help walk you through it. Let’s start with the first part — getting yourself the recipe. The prerequisites include:
- Getting a Gear Score of 40 – To Achieve a Higher Gear Score, all you have to do is craft all types of gear for various gear slots (including Hat, Gear, Back, Top, Bottom, and more).
- Finding the Herbarium Site of Power – This is also relatively simple. While exploring around your chosen biome, you’ll probably come across a site with floating white stones. The Herbarium Site of Power should also appear in your map.
Keep in mind that the Herbarium Site of Power is a dungeon, and you should come prepared. The idea is to reach the top of the structure, battle the Fabled Automaton Knights — might I recommend a Slingbow — and receive your just rewards: the Herbarium Realm Card Recipe.
Great job! You’ve got yourself your Herbarium Realm Card Recipe; now it’s time to start crafting!
Prepping for the Herbarium Realm Card
Now, I know you’re itching to put the new card you got to good use, but we’ve still got a little bit more as far as crafting goes! Honestly, it’s a game all about crafting and survival, so you’re learning by doing.
The good news is you earn rewards for crafting, so you’ll get much more out of this than just the ability to travel to the Desert Herbarium Realm.
So, what we need to do now is to upgrade the Simple Saw Table into a Refined Saw Table. You’ll need the following to do so:
- Lumber x4 – Wood Bundles into Lumber through the Simple Saw Table, in case you forgot.
- Blade x2 – Blades are a rare drop from enemies, can be purchased from the Essence Trader, and can also be crafted from the Brazier (you’ll need Metal Plates x2, which you can craft from Ingots x3).
- Mechanical Gears x2 – These can be crafted from the Brazier for Ingots x3.
Now that we have our Refined Saw Table, it’s time to go for the Refined Mortar Station. To get this handy craftable, you’ll need:
- Lumber x3 – I don’t think there’s a need to repeat how to get Lumber.
- Carved Stone x4 – You’ll need Stone Blocks x2 to get your hands on some Carved Stone.
- Stone/Mineral/Gem/Pigment x2 – Fortunately, you can use any of these items to craft the Refined Mortar Station. Of course, the easiest to go for would be Stones or Gems.
By the way, how’s your first base going? If you’re feeling impatient, no worries — we’re getting there! The Refined Spinning Wheel is also needed, so to get this item you’ll need:
- Carved Wood x3 – Using your newly acquired Refined Saw Table, all you have to do is craft the Carved Wood using Lumber x4 (Wood Bundles into Lumber through the Simple Saw Table as always).
- Shafts x4 – You can make them using the Smelter for Ingots x2.
- Twine x3 – Any type of Fibre x2 will do, and you’ll need to craft it through the Simple Spinning Wheel.
Sorry about this, but there’s more. After all, you’ll need your Refined Masonry Bench to keep going! You’ll need:
- Carved Wood x3 – A you have to do is craft the Carved Wood using Lumber x4.
- Mechanical Gears x2 – These can be crafted from the Brazier for Ingots x3.
- Metal Tips x2 – Use the Brazier and Ingots x2 to get it.
Whew, are you following so far? It’s time to upgrade your Simple Enchanter’s Focus into a Refined Enchanter’s Focus. You’ll need the following to get the job done:
- Etched Ingot x2 – Utilizing the Brazier from earlier, use Ingots x2 to get the Etched Ingot you need!
- Carved Wood x4 – Craft the Carved Wood using Lumber x4.
- Lens x2 – Utilizing your Simple Smelter, craft Glass using Gems of any kind (acquired through mining). After that, craft the Lens using Glass x2 in the Brazier.
You’ve probably realized one or two things at this point. The first thing is that there are many, many steps toward creating the Desert Herbarium Realm Card. The next is that the Brazier is incredibly helpful. Both are true!
Crafting the Herbarium Realm Card
With the Refined Enchanter’s Focus, it’s time to REALLY get crafting. The Herbarium Realm Card needs:
- Coated Paper x1 – With your Simple Saw Table, craft Paper using Wood Bundles x2. After that, craft Coating with Refined Fibre (through Fibre x6 with the help of the Simple Spinning Wheel), using Refined Fibre x2 to make Fabric, and then finally using Fabric x1 to make the Coating.
- Vibrant Ink x1 – This first requires Ink x12, which you can get through Refined Pigment x1 and Glass x1 (which means you’ll need 12 of each ingredient). After that, using your Refined Masonry Bench, craft Gunpowder x1 using Sulphur x2, and Coal x2 (both acquired through mining).
- Essence Dust x25 – Thankfully the easiest of the lot, you likely already gathered the Essence Dust you need by just going around and gathering the necessary ingredients.
Well! That was something. A real rabbit hole of a guide to FINALLY get you where you need to go, right? Fortunately, we’re almost there!
