Grethel the Glassblower is an Act 2 level 47 boss in V Rising. She is an important boss since defeating her not only unlocks the Cyclone spell but as well as recipes for Glass Bottles, which are crucial for Blood Farming, and Blood Rose potions which are used for restoring health.
Grethel the Glassblower Guide
This guide will be divided into three parts. The first part will focus on the boss’s location, the second on the recommended spells, and the third on how to defeat Grethel.
Location
Grethel the Glassblower can be found in the Quartz Quarry on the Northern edge of Dunley Farmlands.
Inside the building marked on the map, you do not have to worry about any enemies and can focus on the boss without any distractions.
Recommended Spells
We recommend using the Veil of Blood for the dash since attacks must be dodged. The jewel being used is the Tranfusing Ornament with the stat that allows for additional damage and inflicting Leech on the enemy.
The second spell we recommend using is the Chaos Volley with the Void Abyss jewel that consumes the Ignite from the spell to increase movement speed. This is useful since most of the attacks in this fight must be dodged, and increased movement speed complements that objective.
The last spell we recommend using is the Phantom Aegis with the Deceptive Mist Stone jewel that increases the spell’s duration. Having a spell such as this is important in order to negate the damage caused by projectiles.
Defeating Grethel the Glassblower
The moment you engage with Grethel, she will retaliate with her wind attack in which three blades will be thrown toward your location. These will stay at the target position for some time before Grethel moves on to the next attack. This attack is simple to avoid by just strafing away from it.
It is important to stay aware since immediately after the Wind attack, Grehtel will dash toward you, dealing massive damage. This attack is avoidable without using Dash, but if cornered, there is no harm in Dashing to avoid losing health.
The next ability that Grethel uses is conjuring a Shield. This is only temporary, so it is recommended to use this time to deal damage to the boss using Chaos Volley or a Crossbow if you have it.
Grethel’s next attack involves blobs of hot melted glass on the floor. Avoid walking into these spots to avoid damage. When these blobs are active, Grethel reverts to using the Wind and Dash attacks together.
The most important attack to watch out for is Grethel’s glass attack, where she utilizes the aforementioned blobs of hot glass. First, Grehtel uses breath to cool the blobs into Glass domes. This is a window at this point where the boss is stationary, so use this to your advantage to get extra hits in.
The next part you have to be careful about since the cooled glass domes now shatter, resulting in each dome releasing eighth glass shards. Use the Phantom Aegis or the Veil of Blood ability since this attack is most damaging.
The rest of the fight involves Grethel using these same attacks repeatedly, so make sure you get the hang of them. Once her health drops to zero, extract the V Blood, and you are done with this fight.
Grethel the Glassblower is not a tough boss to beat, provided that you follow this guide and get used to her attack patterns. If you have any questions or suggestions, let us know in the comments below.
