Weapons and Armor in New World has different perks that they can get. Crafted weapons and armors have the added benefit of you being able to choose what perk you can get with certain recipes and materials. In this guide we’ll show you some of the great picks for perks for your weapons and armors in the game.
Ward
One of the most important gear perks for PVE in New World are wards. Wards reduce the damage of a certain damage type. That means you take less damage from an enemy that deals that damage type. It’s usually common for PVE players to have multiple gear sets that have different ward types, that’s because the perk only covers one type of damage.
Ward increases the survivability of a player in a raid, so it’s important to have a set for each type. Here’s the different type of wards:
- Corrupted Ward
- Angry Earth Ward
- Lost Ward
- Ancient Ward
Refreshing
Refreshing is the next most important perk in PVE. It reduces all cooldowns by a small percentage, that means it’s best when you have as much gear with refreshing as possible. Having lower cooldowns on everything means it increases your DPS and survivability so it’s a great perk to have overall.
Invigorated or Vigor
When looking for a 3rd perk for your gear, Invigorating or Vigor are great choices. The former makes Weaken, Disease, Exhausted and Rend expire faster while the latter makes Burn, Blood and Poison expire faster. These debuffs and damage over time reductions are great 3rd perks since it covers a lot of them.
Bane
Just like Armor with Ward, Bane is a great perk to have on your weapon. Bane increases the damage done to certain enemies and is a great way to increase your DPS when fighting said enemies. Just like Wards it’s great to have multiple different weapons with different Bane perks for the different enemies.

Keen
Another great weapon perk, it increases critical hit chance which means you get to have a higher chance to deal massive damage from time to time. This perk is very good in PVE but not so much in PVP so remember that and don’t run into PVP situations with this perk on.
Enchanted, Keenly Powered and Vicious
These 3 perks are great choices for a 3rd perk on your weapon. Enchanted increases the damage of light and heavy attacks which is great since you’ll be doing a lot of those when fighting. Keenly Powered buffs you with empowered on a crit, and Vicious increases the critical damage. All perks are great for a 3rd perk choice so it’s up to you on what you’re going for.
