New World: Complete Music Guide

New World recently released a new trade skill profession, which basically lets you play as a bard.

Nothing more fun than listening to wind instruments as you carve your way into Aeternum and make a name for yourself. Playing as a bard outside of hostile areas can be quite confusing at first as you have extra controls that you’ll have to mess around with.

No biggie, learning new controls is always fun, especially when you get the hang of things, so let’s see if you can hit a couple of high notes by the time you finish reading this guide!

Complete Music Guide | New World

In order to play music in New World you will need to open the proper interface for it by pressing ‘F5’.

You can select songs that are available to you with ‘R’ and will bring up another selection menu, you can also choose the difficulty of the song before you start the performance along with the instrument you want to use.

Completing a song will reward you with specific buffs that you can choose depending on your performance, as of now there are 6 buffs to choose from:

  • Decidedly Dexterous – Unlocked at level 2 and increases your gathering speed by 75% for 30-90 minutes.
  • Territorial Triumph – Unlocked at level 5 and increases your territory standing bonus by 10 – 30% for 30-90 minutes.
  • All Together Now – Unlocked at level 25 and increases group character exp bonuses by 4-15% for 30-90 minutes.
  • Song in Your Step – Unlocked at level 75 and reduces your encumbrance by 200-1000 for 30-90 minutes.
  • Fortune’s Favor – Unlocked at level 100 and increases your gathering yield by 3-10% for 30-90 minutes.
  • Luck’s Labor – Unlocked at level 150 and increases gathering luck by 2-5% for 30-90 minutes.

You can only have one buff at a time so don’t get too greedy! Players have at least 5 instruments to choose from. These instruments are the drums, flute, guitar, mandolin, and upright bass.

For each instrument you have sheet music will be made available as well, not every song in New World uses all five instruments though so be mindful of that.

If you want to get your hands on an instrument then you can either go on quests or craft them yourself. Going with the latter option requires you to have the Furnishing Trade skill.

Since tablature and Youtube videos aren’t available yet during the age of exploration, you will need sheet music to operate the instrument of your choice correctly.

They can be salvaged separately until you gather all pages required to play a song. Same with the instruments, sheet music can be found through quest rewards, drops, or even chests you find as you explore Aeternum!

Lastly, if you want to level your Music faster, you will have to perform difficult songs and make sure that your timing is spot on. At this point, you’re basically playing a rhythm game so what you need is that triple ‘S’ rank to get the most of out the songs you play.

In all honesty, leveling Music is a slog, even if you hit every note at the right time getting to level 200 will take about five months of your time, but if you like the grind then maybe this is just what you’re looking for!

Here we have Alexis, he's been gaming ever since the second Famicom came out. Which is probably the reason why he goes back to platformers every now and then. Somewhere down the line he started getting more and more fascinated about looking at maps change colors for three to eight hours straight. If he's not out strategizing and beating the life out of his space bar in that order there's a good chance you can find him playing an FPS or talking someone's ear out about how game balance gets in the way of realism. You can tell that he really likes getting the full experience of whatever he gets his hands on.
