How To Hide Player Nameplates in New World
Unfortunately, by “hiding” we mean limiting the number of nameplates on the screen, which can be reduced all the way to 2 nameplates on players’ FOV.
The way to “hide” player nameplates in New World, or at least decrease the amount you get on your screen, you need to:
- Open main menu.
You can open it by clicking Escape (ESC).
- Go to Settings.
Find the settings button in the top-right of the screen.
- Navigate to the “Game” tab.
Once you’re there, scroll down to HUB. Under the HUB heading, you’ll find an option called “Player Nameplate Amount” (it should be the bottom one).
- Decrease the number of nameplates.
Players can move the slider from right to left to decrease the number of nameplates, which as I stated above can only go down to TWO.
It’s unfortunate that even in 2023, this game doesn’t have the option to turn off all nameplates, like most MMORPGs. Do be sure to update us if that happens, or if the methodology of turning the nameplates off OR decreasing it, has changed.
NOTE: We noticed that even performance was better with less nameplates. While browsing the official NW forums, apparently other players noticed the same thing. Which means if you’re playing on an older or less powerful system, do be sure to decrease the amount of nameplates as much as possible, for a few extra frames.
